| Westcomb iMirage Jacket |
Although I prefer the slightly simpler and lighter Westcomb Phantom Jacket for extended backcountry tripsand serious alpine endeavors, nothing protects like this shell does on dayslogs, riding lifts, or when things turn super nasty. The iMirage really excels when covering big vert changes or on soupy days when temperatures can fluctuate back and forth between butt-cold and mild. eVent Fabrics have certainly unlocked the secret of how to make fabrics that block out the elements- without having to wear the old, suffocating, PU-membrane-garbage-bags of yesterday. Expect envious eyes when you press the remote iPod “pause” button on your sleeve to hear your friends say, “That jacket is sick!”
Don uses for: Lift skiing, backcountry daytrips, and generally nasty weather. A great jacket but slightly too heavy for me to carry in my alpine pack.
